I'm new to the series but will be checking out the other games after this. I've not encountered any performance issues or bugs other than the game crashing a couple of times (over the course of 18 hours I don't consider this a major issue). The characters are fun, combat is entertaining and I really love the soundtrack.. A great retelling of the original 2D game in the newer games 3D style and format.Comparing it to the great anime that I watched, since I didn't play the original, it holds up a lot of the classic story with great new cinematography for its VN segments, which, for me was one of the weaker parts of the previous games so I'm glad it's been improved.This game doesn't add much in terms of new mechanics/content from the last couple entries but what it does add is significant, such as the new enemy types (samurai students, butterfly knife chicks and yo-yo slingers) new maps (mall and 1st floor hanzo) a new indicator to where enemies are gonna strike before they do (shows projectiles path as well) while not making the game a cakewalk despite and, biggest new addition, of course the burst mode which is kinda a cross between a temporary power up state and a super meter.Doesn't replace your transformation btw.I super appreciate and like those changes and the boss fights're (not including when you fight other playable characters in the game) super fun with multiple stages like a true classic action game.One was even all in side scrolling format, which I refuse to say 2.5D coz that's dumb.This's only an upgrade from the previous installments. The menu's also my new fav to navigate between the stiff style of EV, the plain PBS's and the avatar one that just adds downtime and extra loading screens like SV's.No ayame, of course and the settings're a bit lacking however. It still suffers from some of the other games flaws however like a forced tutorial despite having a separate tutorial mode outside of the story mode and 2 different story modes that clash and cause you to question what's the cannon storyline.Though ayame's absent, it is nice to see characters designs go back to the old games style and other faithful nods to the original like that.. As a long time fan of Senran Kagura, even I have to admit, the PC version of this game actually runs really well. From what I understand of this game, it's basically the same story from the original 3DS version, just with a few new features and the same gameplay mechanics and voice clips from Estival versus. Some people may have mixed feelings on that, but whether you enjoy that or not really all depends on you. I personally don't really expect very much from the SK series in terms of ground breaking features, so, I'm able to look past it rather easily. If anything, I'd highly recommend the PC version over the PS4 version, given that Sony had the intimacy mode removed from it. Granted, I know that not everyone likes the intimacy mode, but Sony's new policy basically puts the series at risk for having even more content removed from it in the future. So, if you love having the full game, I'd highly suggest to get this version instead in order to encourage the devs to switch over to a different platform, as iffy as it may sound.. This game is simulator of the struggles of young Japanese women as they go through the ever challenging school system and prepare to leave to the world of adult-hood.I have never been to Japan however I have been assured that this game is 1:1 simulation of the educational system by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (文部科学大臣 Monbu-kagaku Daijin) who said this in a statement regarding the game. Such as the one on one shinobi AI being more competent, breaking out of your infinite aerial raves, requiring parries to get anywhere and not randomly doing supers to escape combos, while also remaining fair by having an indicator for attacks to show how to dodge an attack that would otherwise be very ambiguous.
